Main Beach on Stradbroke Island boasts 32km of soft white sands and pristine waters. And that's just a small taste of the myriad gorgeous beaches, sparkling lagoons and beautiful bays on offer. Straddie is a watery paradise, so if you're heading here, you'll no doubt want to know every which way to experience the water. Here are just a few options for water activities on Stradbroke.

Swimming and Surfing

The coast of Stradbroke Island is blessed with a series of stunning beaches that shouldn't be missed. Each has unique features, and they can be explored with a walk or some by 4WD. If you're looking to surf or swim, both Main Beach and Cylinders Beach are patrolled. Frenchmans and Deadmans Beach are two additional options for surfers. For those in search of calmer waters, the bays of Amity Point and Dunwich are ideal.

 

North Stradbroke Island Surf School staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience in surfing and some have been surf coaching on the Island since 1987. Equipment is supplied including safe learn-to-surf boards, rash/sun vests and wetsuits if needed. All NSI Surf School coaches are accredited Level 1 and Level 2 coaches with Surfing Australia.

Sea kayaking

It's possible to hire kayaks or join a kayaking tour. With crystal clean waters and a striking coastline, there's plenty to explore. Shag rock is just one area that offers great kayaking.

Learn to Sail

There are a number of boating tour options around Stradbroke Island. Choose from a yacht or powerboat tour, or you might even sign up to learn to sail. The stunning waters of South East Queensland are a perfect destination for sailing enthusiasts or novices.

Snorkelling and Diving

There's great snorkelling off Amity and fabulous diving off Point Lookout, with both waters abundant in fish and marine life. You can head out yourself or even better, join a tour to ensure you hit just the right spot.

If you've always dreamed of bringing home the biggest of ocean catches, now's your chance. Join a half-day or full-day tour, and you'll be shown the best spots to reel in a marlin or other game fish. Tours can be tailored to suit the season, and daily weather conditions.
